My Training Studio vs TeamUp

TeamUp is a great group-class scheduling and membership platform for CrossFit boxes, bootcamps, and yoga studios. We are 1-on-1 personal training studio software. Every plan includes unlimited clients.

Group classes vs 1-on-1 sessions

TeamUp is excellent at what it does: group-class scheduling, membership management, recurring billing, and attendance tracking for class-based businesses. CrossFit boxes, bootcamp studios, yoga and pilates studios, martial arts schools, all use it. The unit of work is a class on the schedule that clients book into.

TeamUp's unit is a class with attendees. Ours is a session between a trainer and a client. Different unit, different software.

For a personal training studio where the unit is a 1-on-1 session, the model is different. You are not selling membership-to-classes; you are selling session packages drawn down on attendance. You are not managing class capacity; you are managing trainer availability. You are not paying coaches to teach a class; you are paying trainers a per-session commission. My Training Studio is built around 1-on-1 PT primitives. TeamUp is built around classes.

Which one is for you?

Pick TeamUp if...

  • Your business is group classes: CrossFit, bootcamps, yoga, pilates, martial arts, group strength.
  • Recurring memberships (unlimited classes / month) are most of your revenue.
  • Class waitlists, capacity caps, and check-in flows are core to your operation.
  • 1-on-1 PT is a side service, not the main product.

Pick My Training Studio if...

  • Your business is 1-on-1 personal training. Sessions, packages, and trainer-client relationships are the unit of work.
  • You sell session packages with FIFO drawdown across overlapping contracts.
  • You hire trainers and pay them per-session commissions, not class-teaching fees.
  • You want unlimited clients on every plan, no per-client tier scaling.
  • Retention is measured in months active per client, not classes attended per week.

Common questions

Is TeamUp good for personal training studios?

TeamUp can run a personal training studio, but it is built for class-based businesses (CrossFit, bootcamps, yoga, pilates). Its strengths are class scheduling, capacity caps, waitlists, recurring memberships, and group-attendance reporting. For a 1-on-1 PT studio where the unit is a session and a package, those primitives are weaker. My Training Studio is built around 1-on-1 sessions, session packages with FIFO drawdown, and per-session trainer commissions.

How does TeamUp pricing compare to My Training Studio?

TeamUp is cheaper at small client counts (around $25/mo for up to 25 customers) and scales with active-customer tiers. A 100-customer business runs $95 to $135/mo; 200+ customers runs $155 to $205/mo. My Training Studio is $50/mo solo and $199/mo for up to 5 trainers, flat, with unlimited clients on every plan. TeamUp wins on price at very small scale; MTS is roughly comparable at studio scale and includes 1-on-1 PT primitives TeamUp doesn't.

Does TeamUp handle 1-on-1 session packages?

TeamUp models "credit packs," which is a count of credits a customer buys and uses to attend classes. You can use credit packs for 1-on-1 appointments, but it does not natively model FIFO drawdown across overlapping packages, sessions-remaining alerts on the contract, or trainer commissions per session. My Training Studio treats those as core.

Does TeamUp support multiple trainers with commissions?

TeamUp supports multiple staff members on the schedule, but it does not natively model per-session trainer commissions or one-click payouts the way a PT studio runs them. Class-based studios typically pay coaches a flat per-class teaching rate, which TeamUp can track. PT studios pay trainers a per-session commission percentage, which is what My Training Studio is built for.

Can I run a hybrid PT-plus-classes studio on My Training Studio?

If 1-on-1 PT is your primary business, yes, MTS is the right home. We support small-group and semi-private sessions. If group classes are 50%+ of your revenue and you need full class capacity, waitlist, and class-membership management, you will want a class-first platform like TeamUp or Mindbody. We are deliberately narrower and deeper on PT.
